Bylaw Enforcement Officer 

The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako (RDBN) is seeking a qualified person to fill the permanent, full time position of a Bylaw Enforcement Officer. Reporting to the Director of Planning for the RDBN, the Bylaw Enforcement Officer will be responsible for the provision of bylaw enforcement services to the RDBN and the municipality of the District of Houston. The position is responsible for performing the full range of bylaw enforcement activities for a local government including responding to public complaints, conducting inspections, issuing tickets, preparing evidence for court, and prosecution of offences.

Success in the position requires the ability to work independently, be well organized, and effectively communicate with other staff and the public. The ability to facilitate a cooperative and solutions-oriented approach to the resolution of enforcement issues is a definite asset.

The preferred candidate will possess a Bylaw Enforcement and Investigative Skills Level 1 Certificate or equivalent, a minimum of grade 12 or equivalent, and at least two years related experience, preferably with local government. The position requires problem solving and conflict resolution training and experience, strong written and verbal communication skills, and a valid Class 5 BC drivers license with a driving record indicative of responsible driving habits.

The Regional District is open to considering applications from persons with related experience that have the capacity to be trained as a Bylaw Enforcement Officer.

The position has an annual salary of $66,000-$74,000 and includes a comprehensive, competitive benefits package.
